The yellow horizontal lines control the sizing of the letters, the vertical lines form boxes to control spacing, the blue bolded top and bottom horizontal lines give extra visual cuing for proper placement of letters on the line, and the shaded area allows enough spacing for the descension of letters (i.e., g, j, p, q, y).
